MEMORIAL PHONES
Memorial Phones was created as a memorial to my mother (Eleanor Shaw) and
godmother (Leah Tibbles). Toward the end of life, they were both hard of hearing,
so much so that they had difficulty communicating with people they previously
enjoyed talking to on the phone. Their ability to hear was greatly improved
when I bought them special phones that allowed their
frequency ranges to be modulated so that they could adjust the volume for just
the frequencies they were hard of hearing in.
Leah died after my mother. Jack Garrison, Leah's brother and personal
representative, consulted with his brothers and sister and graciously agreed
to share with our family in a purchase of phones from Leah's estate. We purchased
5 phones for the hearing impaired and one braille phone to be used by St. Peters
Hospital in Helena, Montana. The idea was to make it easier for the hard of
hearing or blind to communicate with family and friends during illnesses--sometimes
terminal illnesses where persons wanting to convey end of life messages would
have an easier time doing so.
Mike Munck ,Executive
Vice President at the St. Peter's Hospital Foundation and his staff were instrumental
in having the phones tested and in placing them at the hospital. For that our
families are grateful.
Our goal now is to expand the number of phones in healthcare facilities. If
you would like to donate in the name of a person close to you or in Leah's
and Eleanor's name.
You may do so by sending your contribution to:
% Memorial Phones
PO Box 1734
Billings, MT 59103
Please indicate the person whose name you are sending the memorial for and
the facility where you want the phones to be located. The memorial plaque on
the phone reads:
Leah Tibbles & Eleanor Shaw

If you make a donation in the name of a person you cared about, the name on line
1 will replace the names of Leah and Eleanor.
At present phones for the hearing impaired cost $80 plus shipping and handling
and plus a $10 fee for the memorial phone plaque. We will help you arrange
the memorial and might need some input by you depending on where you want
the phone placed. Unless the demands of administering this program become
too great
for our families to handle, there will be no administrative
fee for this service. So 100% of you contributions will go for phones.
If that changes, a notice to that effect will be posted here effective for
all donations made after such notice.
We intend
to
develop
this web page further to provide a place where healthcare facilities that
want phones can list their need. New World WindPower is hosting this program
on
this web site as a service to save money for the program.
